POLICE are appealing for information following a report that a man had been assaulted.

Police were called at around 1am on Sunday, July 16, to Market Gate, Newton Abbot, following reports of an altercation in the street.

It was reported that a man had been assaulted by a group of people.

He left the area prior to police arrival and officers have so far been unable to identify him through enquiries.
