Plaudits should go to several others for backing Muse gigs

The article by John Ware about Muse performing in Teignmouth describes me as having been a 'driving force' behind the concerts.

While I would love to accept this accolade, I must put the record straight and give the main plaudits for this excellent initiative to the band themselves.

I may have been no more than a catalyst in raising the idea with Matt Bellamy. The band are clearly loyal to Teignmouth and all of us should be proud of their achievements and especially that they have chosen Teignmouth to launch their world tour.

I must praise Teignbridge Council's officers and in particular Tracey Higgs, who has worked tirelessly to make this event happen; the leader Cllr Alan connett, who has been focused on giving Teignmouth an event to be proud of, as well as Richard Younger-Ross MP, who has spoken to all the relevant agencies to ensure that obstacles are addressed.

The residents should also be thankful to Sylvia Russell who, despite living on the seafront and thus no doubt having to put up with a great deal of inconvenience, has flown the flag for the concerts with a good deal of vigour.
