PLANS have been submitted to convert Teignmouth’s former Bay Hotel into holiday apartments.

The building in Powderham Terrace has been closed for several years, and gained notoriety when its former owner, London barrister Shirley Bothroyd was dubbed the female Basil Fawlty.

It’s understood the hotel was sold in November last year for more than £1m.

The plans state there will be no change to the exterior of the listed building, and full details of application 22/01340/LBC can be found online on the Teignbridge Council planning portal.
