Plans are afoot to return to a regular market running in Teignmouth.

The first one will be on Saturday, October 1, and this will be followed by a Christmas market on Saturday, December 3.

The aim is to have a Valentine’s Day market on Saturday, February 11, 2023, as well.

Town councillor Cate Williams says: ‘The idea has come about following requests from the public and those who participated successfully with a market stall here in Teignmouth at previous events.

‘It is a wonderful opportunity for existing traders and business to sell their products but also for those who have started a new business or are thinking about offering products, whether from a stall or even on-line, to showcase what they have on offer.

‘By running a regular market, this enables traders and producers to participate as little or as often as they want, and expand the products available to the town’s shoppers, both local and visitors.

‘Those involved in the market planning want to enable participants to have a successful and prosperous day trading, develop the market, bring awareness of what Teignmouth has to offer and the fantastic products available.

‘That wonderful movie with Kevin Costner once told us...’ if you build it, they will come... well, the invitation is there for those who are interested to come and help build on what could be a really exciting and regular market for the town.’

Cate adds: ‘All are welcome. We want to make this market a regular event.’
