A GYPSY site in woodland could be set for an expansion, if it gets the backing from district planners.
The current camp, near Denbury, has three pitches which house six caravans along with a dayroom, toilet and store.
But now Mr M Doran is looking to add two more pitches with parking, a dayroom, tourer pitch and static unit.
Mr Doran lodged his plans with Teignbridge Council, and its planning committee will scrutinise the plans on Tuesday.
Ward member Cllr Dennis Smith called for the committee to look at the plans because he was concerned that the site is directly below National Grid power lines.
Cllr Smith also feels that the proposals would be an unsafe and unsustainable development in the countryside.
A report, which will go before councillors, reads: ‘It is accepted that it is often difficult to provide sites for members of the gypsy and travelling community and weight is given to the benefits of providing two additional pitches.
‘In absence of any resulting harm to the character and appearance of the landscape, heritage interests, wildlife interests, highway safety or residential amenity, on balance the proposed development is considered acceptable.’
Councillors are set to meet at Forde House, the council’s Newton Abbot HQ, at 10am on Tuesday (October 24). The meeting is open to the public.
