AS expected, the much heralded joint Teignmouth-Dawlish airshow planned for this summer, will not be taking off.

In the autumn there were ambitious plans for the two resorts to share an event over two days in August, but as many predicted, there was little time to organise such a big undertaking.

Both town councils were behind the show, which was forecast to bring thousands of visitors to view the aircraft including the Red Arrows from the beaches and cliffs.

Now the plan is to stage it next year, and cllr Robert Phipps who chaired a working party looking into the feasibility of a joint show, said the appetites was still there and it would be a good event for both towns. they were determined to try and make it a reality.

The Dawlish airshow was always a major attractions that filled the town, but the last one was in 2015. The organisers decided to call a halt because of funding difficulties.
