A SCENE of Courtenay Street from the 1960s is this week’s offering to tickle the nostalgia buttons of readers of this column, writes Steve Harris.
No doubt many of the shop names shown such as Woolworths and Modelias will bring back memories of trips to the stores in question and purchases which lit up (or may not have) special occasions such as birthdays and Christmas.
The Courtenay Restaurant will no doubt stir memories of celebrations such as wedding receptions, annual dinners and presentations.
Some readers may remember banking with the Westminster Bank before it merged with the National Provincial Bank to become the National Westminster which in turn was swallowed up by the Royal Bank of Scotland.
