Teignmouth could do a Totnes over a proposed Costa coffee shop for the town.

A petition has been launched claiming the arrival of the national chain will harm independent outlets.

The organiser is hoping Teignmouth will emulate Totnes, where widescale opposition caused Costa to walk away.

But the man behind the plan to convert the former Clintons Cards shop in Bank Street, maintains existing businesses have nothing to fear, and Costa could actually attract more people to the resort.
