THE hot weather has prompted organisers of Newton Abbot’s Party in the Park to cancel Saturday’s dog show.

Organised by Newton Abbot Town Council and Rotary Newton Abbot, the popular event takes place in Courtenay Park from 11am to 4pm on July 12 and 13.

This year’s event was set to debut a new dog show, however with temperatures expected to hit close to 30C, Rotary Newton Abbot has made the decision to cancel it.

The club said it made the decision to ensure the welfare of the animals involved.

But fear not, for there is still lots to see and do.

There will be live music across both days, in the form of ska, funk, rock, pop and brass, as well as food and drink vendors.

Saturday’s entertainments includes a bouncy castle, The Rock Choir, Taiko Drummers, face painting and circus skills.

Sunday’s fun and games include children’s entertainment, such as face painting, balloons, bubbles and crafts with Creative Newton Abbot.

The day will also feature a bungee run, circus skills and mini challenges from SPACE Youth Centre.
