THE announcement that £2.5 million has been earmarked to redevelop the Carlton Theatre site on Teignmouth seafront has been branded 'a bit of a pantomime'.

Teignmouth councillor David Cox claims there is confusion over just what the money will be spent on.

But another Teignmouth councillor, Sylvia Russell, said the cash could create a first-class flexible community facility for many organisations in the town.

Cllr Cox said: 'It is turning into a bit of a pantomime. In the Teignbridge budget it states that the money will also be used to regenerate the seafront as well as the Carlton, which is spreading it much more thinly.
