HE'S been cleaning windows for 40 years, but now Ian Atkinson is hanging up his chamois and bucket.

A virtual fixture in the town centre where he specialised in keeping commercial windows sparkling, he decided to call it a day after a second hip replacement.

'This last winter has been particularly hard and a bit of a struggle – both the weather and the strain on my body. I think it was telling me to take it easier,' said Mr Atkinson, 67.
