TWO pub managers will, hopefully, be completing a 265-mile cycling challenge in Kingskerswell, tomorrow.
Daniel Merchant, who manages the Three Elms in Cardiff, and Mark Robson, manager of Rosewood in Burnham-on-Sea, have tackled the bike route, which passes through six counties, as part of a week of fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Their trip started in Llanelli on Monday and the pair have been visiting every pub in the Hungry Horse chain within what is known as area 46.
The route has taken them through Mid Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Avon, Somerset and Devon.
Tomorrow, they will complete the challenge at The Sloop in Kingskerswell at about 4pm.
Their effort is part of a week of fundraising across more than 240 Hungry Horse pubs in the UK for Macmillan Cancer Support and included today’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Daniel, who organised the cycle ride, said: ‘I would not necessarily say we are keen cyclists but we can hold our own.
‘However, this challenge is like nothing we have done before and we need all the support and motivation we can get.
‘So it would be great to see lots of customers greeting us as we arrived and plenty of donations coming in as well.
‘Macmillan is a great cause and we would love to smash our target.’
They aim to raise £1,000 and anyone who would like to donate can do so through their Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/ tourof46.
