A TEIGNMOUTH woman who admitted being in charge of a car while over the drink limit was given 10 penalty points by South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court.

Sarah Niven, aged 40, of Barnpark Terrace, Teignmouth, admitted being in charge of a Volkswagen Polo when a breath test revealed she had 56ugs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Niven was also ordered to pay Crown Prosecution costs of £135, plus £34 to fund victim services.

Niven also admitted having no insurance for the vehicle while driving in Teignmouth and no separate penalty was imposed for this.

Niven also admitted possessing 0.18 gms of of cannabis. No separate penalty was imposed for this but the court ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drug.

A drink-drive charge was denied and this was dismissed.
