THERE was outrage when some motorists found they had been booked for parking during the remembrance service.

Confusion seems to have arisen because of signs declaring free parking in Teignmouth on Sundays – but it only applies to Teignbridge car parks, not the county council controlled on-street parking.

Teignbridge denied those attending the service were targeted, and emphasised that fewer tickets were issued than the previous Sunday. Anybody booked would be treated 'sympathetically' if they appealed.

Local estate agent David Force had heard of an enforcement officer boasting about issuing 27 tickets.
