A FOAL orphaned on Dartmoor is being cared for by a Newton Abbot-based charity. The tiny foal, named Ava, was found alone and terrified near the village of Lee Moor after her mother died.

Rescuers faced a race against time to keep her alive.

But the Mare and Foal Sanctuary has come to her aid and staff are working round the clock to care for her.

Worried Lee Moor residents initially called local charity Hill Pony Resources, who managed to bring the foal in off the moor and monitor her overnight.
