A WELL known Teignmouth former businesswoman and political activist, has died suddenly.
Pam Kenward (pictured below), 81, had been suffering from pneumonia.
She was the mother of Tracy Scranage, the former town centre development manager.
Mrs Kenward and her late husband Ron, came to Teignmouth from London in 1986 and took over the Bobbetts Ford dealership in Brunswick Street. They subsequently moved to the former Central Garage premises in Northumberland Place, and then to a site at New Road.
She was prominent in the local Conservative association, and president of the then chamber of commerce.
She also leaves a son, Gary, and seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Cllr Sylvia Russell, president of the local association, described her as ‘one of the town’s great colourful character’.
‘She and her husband were very community-minded, and when I was mayor they were generous in helping to raise money for my charities.’
