RUSH-HOUR commuters faced lengthy delays this morning (Weds Oct 10) after a lorry and car crashed on the A38.

Police sealed off two lanes of the Exeter-bound road at Splatford Split just before 8am with motorists stuck in miles of traffic on both the A38 and A380.

A force spokesman confirmed the smash wasn’t serious with one person being treated for minor injuries, but said the incident was creating a ‘traffic nightmare.’

Drivers were faced with delays of up to an hour and 30 minutes with police urging people to avoid the area if possible.

Highways England re-opened both lanes by 9.30am but warned that motorists will be delayed for a while.
