IT’S the second meeting of the 2022 season at Newton Abbot today, Saturday, when the course is one of seven in action up and down the country on a busy Easter weekend.

The course has announced that, due to crowd number restrictions, tickets for the four weekend meetings this season will be limited and only available to purchase in advance, so racegoers planning to go on Saturday are advised to book online as soon as possible.

The seven-race card kicks off at 1pm with the Racing Partnership Novices’ Hurdle over two miles and one furlong in which Knappers Hill, sent off favourite in a hot handicap at Sandown Park won by his his stable companion Complete Unknown, would have a clear chance.

Next up is the feature race of the afternoon, the Class 3 Everybody Smile It’s Pete’s 70th Birthday Handicap Chase over two miles and five furlongs and amongst the 12 entries are five successful over the course before.

Longest race of the afternoon is the Newtonabbotrace On Twitter Handicap Hurdle and, with 15 entries, could turn out to be a competitive affair.
