NETWORK Rail is to carry out improvements to Teignmouth railway line.

The work is essential maintenance and improvements to the track near the town’s station, to help maintain a safe and reliable railway.

Engineers will be working overnight when trains are not running to ensure they can work safely.

Teignmouth Town Council has informed residents of scheduled working dates and times.

A spokesman said: ‘They work around the clock to keep the railway running smoothly for passengers and freight.

‘Their work is often noisy, late at night and on weekends.

'The nature of the tasks means they can’t prevent all noise, but their teams will try to minimise this as much as possible and they are sorry if they disturb you.’

The work is planned to take place on Saturday December 13 to Monday December 15 between 10pm and 9am.

The same times from Saturday January 17 to Sunday January 18 and Saturday February 7 to Sunday February 8 and again on Saturday February 14 to Monday February 16.
