THE Northern Brass Quintet – known to its followers as NBQ – will be giving a concert at the Courtenay Centre, Newton Abbot, on Sunday, February 21 at 3pm.
Taking the audience through many countries, centuries, styles and moods, the quintet will be performing works by Bach, Ewald, Scheidt, Bizet, Kamen, Gershwin, Sondheim and Bernstein.
This is a typical brass quintet line-up: two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba.
It was formed in 2008 by former students of the Royal Northern College of Music, and won the coveted Philip Jones Prize for chamber music in 2011.
The day after the concert, the quintet will be working with the children of Canada Hill School, Ogwell.
