NEWTON Abbot College reported a successful Duke of Edinburgh Expedition that took place last month.

Twenty-one students from the college set out on their bronze award expedition, relying on their skills to navigate from Trenchford reservoir, near Hennock and on to Lustleigh and Bickington before heading back to the college.

All students passed the expedition walking a total of 20 miles over two days.

Duke of Edinburgh assessor Lucy Atkins said: ‘The teams were excellent, and certainly great ambassadors for Newton Abbot College and role models for their younger peers.’

Newton Abbot College geography teacher Sam Groves added: ‘The students demonstrated fantastic teamwork and put all the skills they’ve learned over the last few months to great use.

‘They should be incredibly proud of themselves and we look forward to the completion of the bronze award in the coming months.’
