disappearing sand at Shaldon beach is worrying councillors and residents.

The riverside beach is a prime tourist attraction, and now the parish council is trying to solve the mystery of why it is being lost.

There are many theories, including the dredging to keep the main navigation channel into the port clear and natural changes in the estuary.

Council chairman Cllr Chris Clarance said they were 'extremely concerned' about the loss of sand in an area from the Ness to opposite Eastcliff House, which had been occurring for nearly 20 years.
