TEIGNMOUTH traders have broadly welcomed the arrival of a major supermarket in the town.
Most regard the proposed Morrisons development at Broadmeadow as a possible boost rather than a threat.
And councillors may soon have to decide what to do with an unexpected £9.5 million windfall from the deal, as exclusively predicted in this newspaper last week.
Jacqui Orme, vice-chairman of the Teignmouth Traders' Association, said she saw the opening of a Morrisons store as a chance to stimulate more business in the town centre.
'It is a very good store, and the one in Totnes attracts a lot of trade from around that area,' she said.
