THOUSANDS of people across Teignbridge and Devon will be outside their front doors tonight (Thursday) for the Clap for our Heroes.
Among them last week was Mickey Mouse (aka Lynda Francis, of Elm Road, Dawlish).
Linda says: ‘I wanted to try and spread some joy on our street at Elm Grove Road, in the hope this may bring a smile to anyone passing by and to my neighbours.
‘Like everyone else I have had the moments of loneliness and the struggle not being able to see my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who I would normally engage with on a regular basis.
‘After seeing so many inspirational stories recently in the news I felt I could also contribute to the mission by making someone smile. I did this because my own family are all key workers and helping in the fight against Covid-19.
‘My pride and my love for them made me realise how lucky I really am and I also could do something to help others. It may be a small gesture and a nice thing to see for the children but I hope my efforts had made people smile that evening.
‘Minnie Mouse will be clapping on Thursday night and giving Mickey a night off.
‘There have been so many acts of kindness in this horrible event and if we can take anything from this situation I do hope people will remember to look after each other and stay safe.’
n Send us your pictures from tonight’s big clap and let’s tell our carers and key workers how much we care for them.
