STRONG winds are blowing across Teignbridge today, June 6, and isolated gusts close to 60 mph are possible over coasts, hills and inland where heavy showers occur, according to the Met Office.

The agency said strong to gale force west to northwesterly winds will affect many areas today, between 10am and 10pm.

A yellow warning for wind has been put in place across the whole of South West England. A yellow warning means people should plan ahead for possible travel delays, keep an eye on latest forecasts and be aware the weather may change or worsen.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: ‘Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are likely today, with isolated gusts close to 60 mph possible.

‘Large waves and spray will affect some coasts, so be careful.’

High tide is around 4.30pm at Teignmouth today and the agency is warning extra caution during high tides around coastal areas.
