A MEMORIAL service is being held for a popular Teignmouth fisherman whose body has never been found after his boat mysteriously sank seven months ago.
Michael Hill, 22, was the experienced skipper and owner of the scalloper JMT which went to the bottom near the Eddystone lighthouse in July.
The body of the other fisherman on board, father of three Shane Hooper, 33, was quickly recovered, and his funeral service held last year. A full inquest into his death is still to be held.
Now Mr Hill’s grieving father Micky Hill, 51, has organised a memorial service at St Michael’s Church on Saturday, March 19 at 11.00am, followed by a wake at the Bay Hotel.
‘It does not get any easier for our family and his friends, but I think it is now time to mark his passing,’ said Mr Hill, who runs a business making fishing pots.
