POLICE safely located a man after an incident on a bridge over the M5 in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called at around 1.30am on Wednesday, May 27, to a concern for welfare for a man who was reported to be on the wrong side of railings on a bridge over the M5.

With the support of partner agencies, a rolling road-block was put in place both ways on the M5 between junctions 28 and 29 while officers undertook searches to locate the man.

He was located a short time later next to the railway line nearby and the rolling road-block was lifted soon after 2am.

The man was taken to a place of safety and left in the care of health professionals.
