A MAN from South Devon has been jailed for more than 20 weeks after pleading guilty to a string of assaults.

Earlier in November, an individual assaulted three members of the public in Torquay town centre before assaulting two police officers.

And on Monday, November 24, Jordan Papanicolaou, from Torquay, plead guilty to three counts of assault by beating and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.

Papanicolaou, 29, was sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment and ordered to pay compensation to all five victims.

Torquay Police said: ‘This case was dealt with by our patrol colleagues and we will continue to take action against those causing harm in the town centre and residential areas of Torquay’.
