A MAN found in the water near Teignmouth Docks yesterday (thurs) was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Emergency services had tried to resuscitate the man, in his 60s and local, at the scene yesterday afternoon.
He was flown by Devon Air Ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital at Wonford where death was confirmed.
It emerged today that the man, who has not been named, had been reported missing from his home in Teignmouth earlier in the day.
A lifeboat crew picked him out of the water in the Quay Road area after he was spotted by a member of the public just after 2pm.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene.
A police spokesman confirmed this morning that the man’s death was not being treated as suspicious. A report was being compiled for the coroner.
An inquest is likely to open next week to take formal evidence of identity.
