A CAMPAIGN has been launched to try and salvage as much as possible from the wreckage of the Teignmouth Community Association, which has collapsed.

The demise of the organisation, which has done so much to improve the lives of hundreds of individuals and families, stunned the town.

Up to 50 full and part-time jobs have been lost after the association went into administration after cash flow problems.

Chief executive Will Fitzgerald described the demise as 'horrible', and the deputy mayor and a recent trustee, Cllr David Cox, said it was 'a tragedy' for Teignmouth.

The news came hard on the heels of the decision by the county council, in March, to pull the funding plug on the youth inclusion scheme, which had been hailed a success in keeping youngsters away from crime.
