AN offer by Teignmouth councillors to keep all the public toilets in the town open could be flushed away.
Teignbridge Council wants to close three loos to save money – Brunswick Street, Lower Brook Street and Eastcliff car park – and only retain the flagship 'super loo' Beachcomber on the seafront, and the Jubilee on the seawall at Eastcliff.
The town council proposed a five-for-the-price-of-two deal. They would take over all the toilets – which costs Teignbridge about £133,000 a year – if they handed over a 'dowry' of £85,000 a year, the cost of operating the Beachcomber and Jubilee.
