THE long service of four members of the Teignmouth lifeboat team has been recognised during a ceremony at the Jolly Sailor pub.

The operations manager, Charlie Woolnough, presented the awards, and recollected notable shouts down the years.

Long service certificates were given to Alan Edwards, a crew member for 11 years who took part in 52 call-outs; Ken Ball, who served for 25 years, and Adam Truhol, the current senior helm, who has attended a ‘staggering’ 340 shouts in 21 years.

Kate Ireland, the RNLI representative for the area, also gave an award to Mr Woolnough, who joined as a volunteer in 1995, and was a crew member for 17 years, and been operations manager since 2012.
