TEIGNMOUTH RNLI volunteers have rescued a person cut off by the tide on Ness Beach. Solent Coastguard asked for help from RNLI volunteers from Teignmouth on Tuesday evening following reports of a person cut off by the tide on Ness beach, Shaldon.
An RNLI spokesperson said: ‘Volunteers from RNLI Teignmouth responded at 7.23pm following the request from Solent Coastguard.
‘The casualty had become cut off by the incoming tide at Ness beach where they had been out fishing. ‘The Two Annes Lifeboat was launched with four crew on board and arrived on scene shortly after the launch where they recovered the casualty via lifeboat to saftey.
‘Following the safe recovery of the casualty the lifeboat was then returned to station where the waiting volunteer shore crew were on hand to clean and refuel the boat ready for its next task.
‘When out and about by the coast it is important to check the tide times, and weather conditions before setting out to help keep yourself safe.
‘If you find yourself in an emergency situation when by the coast call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.’
