TEIGNMOUTH’S popular seafront Lido is ready to open this Saturday.
Despite the current question mark over its future, Teignbridge Council says the pool will reopen in time for the half term holiday.
The 25m heated outdoor pool has just gone on the market and for sale signs are up outside the entrance.
For this summer season though, it will be open for a programme of activities including early morning lane swimming, general and fun swim sessions and a range of classes including aquafit, condition swims and Fit For Sea lessons.
Extensive preparations have taken place ahead of reopening, including a comprehensive deep clean, installation of new IT infrastructure and the successful recruitment of seasonal team members to support operations over the summer months.
Meanwhile, commercial agents Bettesworths are marketing the Lido for sale on behalf of Teignbridge Council.
Save The Lido campaigners say the sale gives the charity the chance to make its bid to run the pool as a community asset.
Teignbridge Council says it has instructed the agent to market the pool as part of ‘due diligence’ to ensure all options for disposal of the pool are fully considered.
All activities at the Lido are included within Teignbridge Leisure membership packages. Non-members and visitors can also enjoy the facility through flexible options, including day passes and individual session tickets.
