ALCOHOL can now be served until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays in The Riviera Bar, Teignmouth, with the premises open for live and recorded music and closing at 1.30am.

Bar owner John Perkins had made the application for Tipple and Co Ltd to increase the opening hours from Thursday to Sunday from 8.30am-2am, with the serving of alcohol from 10am-1.30am, but before Monday's Teignbridge Council Licensing Act Sub Committee, he agreed to the compromise.

The committee allowed the amended extended times for private functions and pre-arranged events, while the licensing hours for the remainder of the week will remain 8.30am-11.30pm with a 12.30am close.
