FIREFIGHTERS from Newton Abbot were called into action last night, Friday, June 6, following a car fire.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service’s control room received several calls just around 10pm of a fire at Woodland Park, Paignton.

There was initial confusion as to what was on fire, but it soon transpired that it was a vehicle fire.

Fire appliances from Paignton, Torquay and Newton Abbot were mobilised and confirmed that one vehicle on a public highway was well alight.

Crews used two breathing apparatus, a 51mm jet, a water wall, two thermal imagine cameras, a hydrant and an environmental pack to extinguish the fire.
