VIOLENCE erupted on the streets of Teignmouth at the bank holiday.

A man was stabbed on Sunday in the daytime, and in the evening a man was allegedly waving an axe in the same town centre area.

The incidents are not thought to be connected.

Police are anxious to trace witnesses to the stabbing.

The 32-year-old victim from Paignton suffered a serious knife wound to the leg during the incident in the resort's Clampet Lane area.
