MORE than 800 knitted poppies have been attached to the Newton Abbot War Memorial.

A spokesperson for Newton Abbot Town Council said: ‘Thank you to the women’s section of the RBL, Women’s Institute and local knitting groups who made the poppies.

‘1st Newton Abbot Brownies will also be attaching their homemade poppies on the 11/11, watch social for more pictures.’

There will be a Remembrance Exhibition in the ‘Rowell Room’ at Newton’s Place from November 9 to 13.

This will feature WW1’s ‘forgotten soldiers’.

A small service will be held on the 11th at the War Memorial at 10.45am.

On Remembrance Sunday there will be the parade and service, from Courtenay Street and finishing at the War Memorial from 10am to 11.30am.
