A TEIGNMOUTH businessman has come up with a novel and humane way of deterring those pesky gulls that swipe food from folk on the seafront.
Robert Phipps, who runs the two cone-shaped kiosks, is flying a kite shaped like a hawk, and it works.
'When it first went up, the seagulls went ballistic and were screeching around. Now they are more used to it, but still keep their distance.
