STAFF at Foredowne Kennels have expressed their gratitude after a flood of donations of bedding and towels.
The donations came following an outbreak of the potentially fatal parvovirus in at the Kingskerswell kennels stray dogs area.
As potentially infected bedding from the stray dog enclosure had to be destroyed, the kennels put out an appeal for donations of blankets, duvets and towels.
A spokesman said: ‘We would just like to put out a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us recently.
‘We have been overwhelmed by the incredible generosity shown.
‘We have received a huge amount of bedding and towels, and we are so grateful to those who have also brought in toys and treats for the dogs’ Christmas stockings, goodies for our staff, and purchased items from our wishlist.
‘Every contribution means so much to us.
‘Thank you all for your kindness and support.’
The kennels was also supported by staff at Hays Travel in Newton Abbot.
Staff from the kennels took a few of the dogs in to visit and receive generous donations made by customers and Hays staff.
A Hays spokesman said: ‘They were over the moon and grateful that their rescue animals will feel the love this Christmas and have lots of treats from Santa Paws.
'Thank you to everyone that brought in gifts, treats and toys for the dogs at Foredown. You are all amazing.’
The kennels confirmed there were cases of the disease canine parvovirus among its stray dogs earlier this month.
It was understood several dogs had died of the persistent virus which is always present in the wider community, countryside and popular dog walking routes.
