SEVEN primary schools took part in the annual Dawlish Water Rotary Quiz Challenge.

Youngsters tackled three rounds of 50 questions posed by Rotary quizmasters with each round lasting no more than 15 minutes.

Rounds covered topics: what we learn at school, things we learn outside school and the world.

A spokesman said: ‘All the quizmasters were impressed by the level of knowledge of the participants, who were most enthusiastic.

‘It was a hard-fought contest that was enjoyed by all those who took part.

‘Congratulations to the joint winners but also a big thanks to all who took part and who helped make the event so enjoyable and so much fun.’

Joint first were teams from Kenn and Starcross primary schools with 132 points each.

Third was Westcliff primary with 130 points with Kingskerswell primary in fourth place with 125 points.

Fifth was Cockwood with 119 points and sixth was Kenton with 117.

The cup will be engraved and the winning schools will share the trophy when it is presented to Kenn primary school in April until September when it will be handed to Starcross.
