A Royal Marine is gearing up for a gruelling 123-mile run from Bournemouth to Plymouth all in the name of charity.

James Rowland, 23, is hoping to smash the challenge in aid of Cancer Research, by running the distance in just six days.

Setting off on March 26, James will run from the coastal town to Puddletown and from there head to Bridport, Sidford, Chudleigh, South Brent and Plymouth.

James said: ‘This run is very much open to the public and anyone that would like to join me along the way is more than welcome.

‘I am particularly reaching out to running clubs in the hope there are some other crazy people who’d enjoy this sort of challenge.’

James has so far raised £380 but he is hoping to reach his desired target of £20,000.

He added: ‘This event isn’t about speed nor is it a competition.

‘It is simply about me trying to raise some money for a good cause with the help of communities coming together to do something they enjoy.’

To take part in the run or support him on the way James can be contacted via Facebook www.facebook.com/Run-James-Run-525035534563118

The Plymouth man is also on the look out for organisations and businesses which would be willing to donate prizes for a raffle in aid of the charity.

James said: ‘Fortunately I don’t have anyone in my family that suffers from cancer.

‘But there are people outside my family that I care about and want to help.

‘That said I want to do this simply because I can.

‘If you have the ability and time to help someone then I think it’s our duty to do so – even if you have never met them.’
