more than 100 people who packed a Teignmouth meeting gave a resounding 'No' to a scheme to build 162 new homes on green fields.

It was standing room only at Bitton House, and several could not get in, as the man from the developer stood alone in the lion's den to outline the proposals for the estate between Shepherd's Lane and the Lovell estate.

Councillors from Teignmouth and Bishopsteignton lined up on Monday with the public to condemn the project, maintaining it would overload already congested roads in the area, harm the environment, put extra pressure on schools and increase the flooding risk.
