GRANTS of up to £5,000 are now available for local groups and organisations in Teignmouth.

Teignmouth Town Council has just adopted a new grant application policy and is welcoming applications for the latest round up to September 30.

Cllr Paul Burgess, who proposed the policy, said: ‘The previous process was ad-hoc and confusing for the public. This new policy will make the process more streamlined and decision making will be simplified.’

There are three tiers of grants available – up to £250, up to £1,000 and up to £5,000 and two funding rounds each year, in October and April. Applicants may need to provide recent accounts depending on the amount of money requested.

To apply for a grant the group must be a charity, community group or local voluntary organisation with a constitution and dedicated bank account

Applications need to be submitted to the town council by September 30, ahead of the grants advisory sub-committee meeting in October.

As well as the twice-yearly rounds of grants, the council will continue to offer events support grants for specific items for events taking place in Teignmouth.
