FIRE crews in Newton Abbot showcased their 'Smokey Paws' in a mock rescue, demonstrating their capability in saving both humans and pets.
Hosted at Torquay Fire Station, the crew were tasked with rescuing two individuals and a dog from a house fire.
Firefighters performed a snatch rescue of one person having out the first floor window, before crews entered Torquay station’s ‘smoke house’, rescuing the other person and the dog.

Given the presence of an animal during the session, it was a prefect opportunity to showcase the piece of equipment carried in most fire engines known as Smokey Paws.
Specially designed oxygen masks, Smokey Paws are used to help improve the health of animals following fires and can treat animals as small as hamsters.
A spokesperson for Newton Abbot Fire Station said: ‘Once again, another big thank you to Torquay fire station for allowing us to use your smoke house, and thank you to blue watch for setting up the drill’.
