The South Devon Railway is running services over the February half term between Buckfastleigh and halfway station on the line, Staverton, with a bus replacement service operated by the line’s ex-London Transport Routemaster between Staverton and Totnes main line station and town centre, while engineering works are underway on the southern end of the line.

Trains are running between February 19-27.

With no leaves on the trees and the early spring flowers beginning to appear, it’s a lovely time to travel on the scenic line, with uninterrupted views of the River Dart for most of the journey.

Trains will run between Buckfastleigh and Staverton each day, with the Routemaster bus connecting with every train, taking passengers to Totnes main line station and into the town centre. You can start your journey from there too.

Up to three engines will be working throughout the week, with push and pull ’auto trains’ operating at weekends and the pairing of GWR ’twins’ 6412 and 6430 on weekdays, no. 6430 having just joined the railway’s fleet of steam locomotives.

Details of the February half term trains will be on the SDR website at www.southdevonrailway.co.uk
