PLANS to build up to 255 homes on the edge of Teignmouth have been put on hold while questions are answered about affordability, road safety and compensation for loss of wildlife habitat.

Hallbaron Ltd wants to build the properties on farmland in the Coombe Valley off Higher Teignmouth Road but the scheme has prompted 65 letters of objection and none in support.

On Wednesday, concerned residents occupied the public gallery above the chamber at Teignbridge Council to hear members of the planning committee debate the application.
