PEOPLE in and around the Dawlish area are being urged to consider volunteering with His Majesty's Coastguard as recruitment reopens for its autumn intake of Coastguard Rescue Officers.

The appeal follows the successful recruitment of nine new volunteers across Area 10, covering South Devon and South-East Cornwall.

Six of the new recruits were called out to multiple incidents over the weekend, underlining the vital role Coastguard Rescue Officers play in protecting coastal communities.

Applications are open until July 20, with HM Coastguard particularly keen to hear from people in the Dawlish area.

Successful applicants must be available to attend training from September 28 to October 2 in Plymouth or October 5 to 9 in Torbay.
