AN IPPLEPEN man received a hero’s welcome after completing a 12-hour run in memory of his son.

Paul Paskins departed from St Andrew’s Church in Ipplepen at around 7am to begin his run, which was in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

This charity was chosen by Paul as it was an important cause to his son, James.

Paul’s run saw him traverse Dartmoor.

Paul celebrated the end of his run with a pint at The Wellington.

As of Tuesday, May 9, Paul has raised just under £800 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society - far surpassing his initial goal of £250.

‘Thanks for any donation small or large,’ Paul said.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society was formed in the 1950s by Richard and Mary Cave, who were frustrated at the lack of treatments and support available for Mary’s multiple sclerosis.
