HITS Foodbank has launched an appeal for help at Christmas.
This year, the charity will be producing more than 400 Christmas hampers for those is need.
Trustee David Cox said: ‘It’s going to be tough Christmas for some families so please help us to make it a little better.’
Volunteers are needed to help deliver Christmas hampers on weekends in the run up to the holiday with expenses paid at 45p per mile.
Help is also needed to pack the hampers during the evenings before they can be delivered.
Supporters can make donations of Christmas items in HITS baskets which can be found at Morrisons, Lidl, Sainsbury’s in Newton Abbot and Dawlish and at Teignmouth Library.
Again this year, Melissa Middleton at the Whistlestop Cafe at Teignmouth railway station is collecting children’s gifts.
HITS will distribute the presents to children who would otherwise get little or nothing.
Gifts for children aged under 12, either new or as new, can be donated at the cafe.
David said everyone knows times are tough but any donations or help will be appreciated.
